It’s beginning to look a lot like … summer?
The thermometer in Central Park reached a record 68 degrees Saturday, smashing a 25-year-old record of 63 degrees and sending surprised New Yorkers outside to bask in the winter reprieve.
A group of West Villagers chased the sun in Central Park in an outing more fitting for a beach in their native California than a New York City January.
“That’s one of the best parts of moving to New York — you get above 60 and people are flocking outside, playing music in the streets. It’s crazy,” said Ari Reisman, 32.
Los Angeles weather had nothing on New York Saturday — it was colder in Tinseltown than the Big Apple, thanks to a mass of warm weather that moved up from the south.
Reisman and four friends laid out a picnic and broke out their sunglasses for a sun session amid the browned grass and bare trees.
Two from the crew peeled off their shirts in a bid to soak in some rare rays.
“It’s good for Vitamin D and Vitamin V — vanity, hello,” said Aaron Albert, 27, spoken like a true Californian.
Their friends back in the Sunshine State aren’t so tough, Albert said.
