Chinese national cleared of trespassing at Mar-a-Lago, faces other charges

A Chinese woman who sparked a security scare at Mar-a-Lago was cleared on Wednesday of trespassing — but still faces possible jail time for resisting arrest.

Jing Lu, 56, was busted in December in one of a series of apparent security breaches at President Trump’s private Florida club — coming back in to take photos after being kicked out by security.

A jury of four women and three men found her not guilty of trespassing after deliberating for roughly 90 minutes Wednesday.

But Lu was found guilty of resisting an officer without violence, facing a maximum sentence of one year in prison, the station said. She will be sentenced Friday.

Lu — who also goes by Lu Jing — has been in custody since the Dec. 18 incident, because her visa to be in the country legally has expired, officials say. She had earlier rejected a plea offer for one year in jail on the charges.

Wednesday’s verdict rejected prosecutors’ arguments that she intruded on Trump’s private club in a “calculated” and “planned” manner. The president was not there at the time.

Prosecutors said Lu had been warned she would face “a world of trouble” unless she left the Palm Beach club — but she still sneaked back in to take photos, the court was told.

Assistant State Attorney Joseph Kadis had said her claim of being an innocent tourist dropped off by a guide “makes no sense,” noting, “She’s in a place where she’s unlawfully allowed to be.”

But Lu — speaking through a Mandarin interpreter — blamed the language barrier for her misunderstanding orders to leave.

She also blamed it for her reaction when two Palm Beach police officers handcuffed her, when she clenched her hands, crossed her arms and screamed, “No! No! No!”

“It was a normal reaction,” she said through a translator. “I didn’t know why they wanted to arrest me.”
