Jets lose Robby Anderson with $20 million Panthers deal

The Jets will have a new No. 1 wide receiver for Sam Darnold.

Robby Anderson is signing with the Panthers and reuniting with his college coach Matt Rhule, according to a source. The deal is for two years, $20 million. He will make $12 million in the first year.

The Jets had hoped to re-sign Anderson, but at their price. Clearly, Carolina valued him more.

Later Tuesday night, the Jets reached an agreement with wide receiver Breshad Perriman on a one-year deal worth up to $8 million, with $6 million guaranteed according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

Anderson was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Temple by the Jets in 2016. He played 62 games, starting 47 for the Jets in four years. He had 207 catches for 3,059 yards and 20 touchdowns.

His best season came in 2017 when he had 63 catches for 941 yards and seven touchdowns.
