Ben Simmons already ‘on the same page’ with Kevin Durant after Nets trade

Ben Simmons is about to find out if the grass really is greener in Brooklyn.

The All-Star point guard has already had conversations with his new Nets teammate Kevin Durant, according to Yahoo Sports — which reports the pair is “on the same page” and that Simmons “welcomes a change of scenery.”

While Simmons’ role in Brooklyn remains to be seen, Yahoo Sports said the Nets will take their time getting the Australian star acclimated.

“We’ve got to work to do to get him back to play, but it’s a great step in right direction,” Simmons’ agent, Rich Paul, told ESPN.com.

ESPN added Thursday that Simmons will continue to work with his therapist to get mentally ready to play in Brooklyn, and that he is thrilled about the trade.

Simmons has not played a single game in the 2021-22 season after he asked for a trade in a summer standoff with the Sixers. His relationship with the team became strained after his historically poor offensive performance in last year’s playoffs.

After he skipped out on training camp, Simmons informed the Sixers he did not feel mentally ready to play.

The 25-year-old is reportedly in great shape and was working out in the Sixers’ practice facility in Camden, N.J. before the trade.

Simmons currently has four years and $147 million left on his max contract he signed in 2019.

The Nets play in Philadelphia on March 10, but it remains to be seen whether Simmons will suit up for Brooklyn this season.
