Wake up with the giraffes at this exotic vacation rental that’s viral on TikTok

Internet denizens are clamoring for the opportunity to sleep alongside these exotic creatures.

A unique animal conservation facility that doubles as a vacation rental has found itself inundated with booking requests after a TikTok video went viral, racking up million of views while showing off its main attraction: The ability to share a room with giraffes. 

Texas’ Longneck Manor also offers visitors the opportunity to go on a private sleepover safari in the Texas hill country.

“Imagine a place where you can wake up with giraffe and rhinos right outside your door, and not have to travel all the way to Africa,” the animal attraction hypes. “Your day only gets better as you engage in special tours to learn and understand more about these magnificent animals and how you can help ensure their survival through active conservation efforts.”

The 100-acre animal sanctuary in Fredericksburg was founded by former Houston Zoo director Rick Barongi in September, and interest has skyrocketed following an influencer posting a clip of their recent experience there. 

The short video shows the travel content creator @TxVacation’s view of the giraffe from the suite, as well as a door which opens allowing visitors to directly feed the giraffes without leaving the room. The clip has been viewed more than 24 million times as of Thursday afternoon. 

“So you walk in and you look to your left and there’s a giraffe staring at you when they’re inside,” Barongi told the Houston Chronicle. “Sometimes they come right up to the window . . . that opens up during the day where the giraffes can stick their nose in and their tongue and they can sit in the living room and feed the giraffes under supervision.”

In all, there are three giraffes, one of whom is named after the late, legendary animal lover Betty White, as well as three male rhinos — Fred, Barney and Justin — a two-toed sloth and two dogs, named Drifter and Bone. 

After the video, “we just got flooded for two days, three days, everything got booked,” Barongi said of the reaction to the late January video. “People were getting frustrated because it looked like the calendar was open, but somebody else was booking it just before they could press the button.” 

A stay at the two-story barn pictured in the clip costs $900 a night, and is only available to one booking of up to five guests at a time. Before the video, Barongi said he averaged one to two bookings per week, but following its virality, it’s now booked solid for the rest of the year. 

Longneck Manor is home not only to these gentle giants — but also to rhinos born in US zoos, offering guests a unique opportunity get up close and personal with the exotic wildlife without the expense and stress of international travel.
