Amenity-packed Massachusetts home of Yankee Candle founder asks $23M

The long-time — and over-the-top — home of Yankee Candle founder, the late Michael Kittredge II, has hit the market for a whopping $23 million, the listing brokerage told The Post.

Located in Leverett, Massachusetts, which has a population less than 2,000 people, the sprawling estate is being sold by Kittredge’s son, Michael, who goes by Mick for short.

The compound spans about 120,000 square feet, which includes a 25,000-square-foot main residence and a 55,000-square-foot spa. It also features a 4,000-square-foot fitness center equipped with a full kitchen, several massage and treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam room and two complete locker rooms.

Other amenities include a three-lane bowling alley, a game room that resembles an arcade, a huge auditorium, and an indoor tennis court with spectator seating alongside a 25-foot-long oak bar and fireplace, according to the listing.

“A philanthropist, Michael structured his life around giving,” a rep told The Post. “He built this compound for family, friends, co-workers and colleagues alike to enjoy.”

The main home was built in the 1980s before Kittredge acquired the property and began expanding in eight stages. It was finally completed in 2010.

Made up of five bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, the home spans three levels and features 11 fireplaces.

The two-story great room comes with an atrium-like ceiling and a second-floor balcony. The gourmet kitchen features a high vaulted ceiling, multiple skylights and five islands.

“This masterpiece of a kitchen was designed to accommodate a team of cooks for grand scale entertaining,” the listing notes.

The primary bedroom wing occupies an entire side of the home and features the main bedroom with a fireplace and private balcony, two auxiliary bedroom suites, a kitchenette and an office.

On the lowest level of the home is a commercial-grade kitchen, two grotto-like wine cellars, two dining rooms and a 10-seat theater.

There are two additional private homes for guests or staff on the estate: one has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and the other has four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Outdoor features include several manicured gardens, an outdoor tennis court, a pool and orchard trees.

Kittredge started making candles at home as affordable gifts for his mom and the women in his life, according to the rep.

“After receiving so many compliments, he started his business, and it grew into the multimillion-dollar corporation and household name it is today.”

Meanwhile, Mick, with his father, founded the Kringle Candle Company in 2009.

Kittredge II passed away in 2019 at the age of 67. He had twice battled cancer and suffered a stroke in 2012, which limited his movement and speech.
