How to watch Super Bowl 2023: Time and channel for Eagles-Chiefs

The Super Bowl 2023 matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will mark first time two No. 1 seeds meet in the Super Bowl since 2017 — when the Eagles took down Tom Brady and the Patriots.

The Eagles will be facing the league’s top quarterback and MVP once again, but this time they’ll see a hobbled Patrick Mahomes and a Kansas City team with numerous key injuries.

The Chiefs won’t be making any excuses, however, as Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce have proved to be as unstoppable tandem. Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s breakout game in the AFC Championship gave some reassurance that the Chiefs will be okay even if some of their key recievers can’t play.

The Kansas City offense — the NFL’s top-ranked unit — will be the biggest challenge for a surging Eagles defense that has only allowed 14 total points in the postseason.

Not that Philly’s side will be lacking fireworks. Dual-threat QB Jalen Hurts leads an offense that features receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, while star linebacker Haason Reddick anchors a stout defense.

It’s set up to be an epic showdown. Here’s everything you need to know about Super Bowl 2023:

What to know about the matchup

Few would argue that these were the two best teams in the NFL all season long.

This will be Kansas City’s third Super Bowl appearance in the last five seasons as Mahomes goes for a second championship ring. Even with key injuries at skill positions, the Chiefs’ offense has been efficient all year and it seems they can plug anyone in as long as Mahomes — battling an ankle injury — is under center. Their rushing attack has picked up momentum and they have a defense that feels overlooked and can rush the passer extremely well.

On the other hand, the Eagles are a well-constructed machine that can win in all facets of the game. They have a balanced offense that can spread out the field with playmakers like Brown and Smith or run ball down opponents’ throat with Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell. They scored the most rushing touchdowns in single-season history while having the No. 1 pass-blocking grade per Pro Football Focus. Philly’s defense is just as good, if not better, ranking No. 1 in pass-rushing and recording 78 sacks — the third-most by a team in one season. It is hard to find a weakness in this Eagles team.

The last matchup between these two franchise’s dates back to Week 4 of the 2021 season where the Chiefs proved to be too much for the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field, winning 42-30.

Who’s performing the National Anthem and Super Bowl Halftime Show?

The eight-time Grammy-winning country singer Chris Stapleton will be singing the national anthem while 12-time Grammy-winning R&B singer Babyface will sing “America the Beautiful” before kickoff.

Rihanna will be returning to music spotlight for her highly-anticipated Super Bowl Halftime show. Fans are hoping this show will be a springboard for more music and shows from the beloved singer later in the year; with rumors of a tour announcement on the horizon.

How much are Super Bowl tickets this year?

The cheapest ticket on the market for Super Bowl 2023 costs about $6,000 including fees. The average price is roughly $9,400 as of “Moving Monday” according to TicketIQ Data.

This puts this Super Bowl as the third-most expensive ticket in Super Bowl history, ranking only below the 2020 Super Bowl between the Chiefs and 49ers and the 2015 Super Bowl between the Patriots and Seahawks.
