Michael J. Fox open to returning to acting amid Parkinson’s disease ‘if someone offers me a part’

Michael J. Fox isn’t looking to throw the towel on his acting career anytime soon.

The beloved actor, who has been battling Parkinson’s disease for decades, said he would love to be considered for roles to add to his impressive silver screen resume.

“If someone offers me a part and I do it and I have a good time, great. I mean, the documentary was a big thrill,” Fox told A Country Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s event on Tuesday.

“I would do acting if something came up that I could put my realities into it, my challenges, if I could figure it out.”

When asked if he’s accomplished his dreams, Fox said his goals and aspirations have shifted as he got older.

“My biggest goal, I think, was to raise a family. We have four amazing kids and that’s been the big thing,” he said, referring to his wife of 35 years, Tracy Pollan. “And then the other is with the foundation.”

Elsewhere, Fox told People that he has some exciting events happening in his personal life that bring a smile to his face.

“You know, my daughter’s getting married too … good things are happening, and life is good. And so it’s been a good year, for sure,” he told the outlet.

He noted that although he’s faced some “physical challenges” over the last year, he was able to overcome them “with the help of family” and the “people that I work with.”

“I’ve been able to meet those challenges and go beyond them and do new things,” he shared. “And the whole thing is just keep having new experiences, whether it’s experiences that push forward, what we’re trying to do and our mission with foundation.”

Fox publicly revealed his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 1998 and has been open about his ongoing battle with the degenerative central nervous system disorder.

According to the CDC, Parkinson’s disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer’s.

In recent years, Fox’s endured a few physical injuries, including a broken arm, shoulder, and hand.

The actor was diagnosed with the disease in 1991, at age 29.
