Body found stuffed in shopping cart covered in flames near NY bridge: cops
A body was dumped in a shopping cart and torched in a disturbing scene near a Westchester County bridge early Monday, local authorities said.
First responders initially responded to the area of the Oak Street Bridge — at the border of Yonkers and Mount Vernon — for a fire around 2 a.m. Monday, cops said.
Once the blaze was extinguished, fire and police officials made the gruesome discovery of a lifeless body on the sidewalk, authorities said.
Responding Yonkers police officers determined that the body had been placed in a shopping cart and set on fire, cops said.
Initial reports indicated the body was dismembered, but authorities could not confirm that Monday atfernoon.
