Deion Sanders says he’s happy at Colorado as rumors swirl that Coach Prime could be on the Cowboys’ shortlist if the team moves on from Mike McCarthy.
Sanders has been pushed as a possibility for the potential opening by former Cowboys great Michael Irvin, among others, but the Colorado coach did his best to try and tamper down that chatter.
“I’m happy where I am, man,” Sanders told reporters on Tuesday. “I’ve got a kickstand down. You know what a kickstand is? … That means I’m resting. I’m good, I’m happy, I’m excited. I’m enthusiastic about where I am. I love it here, truly do.”
The NFL great — and former Cowboys defensive back — seemed to jokingly admonish the question with Colorado athletic director Rick George at the podium with him.
“You going to talk like that with my AD in here, that’s so disrespectful,” Sanders said. “You going to talk about me going somewhere with my AD in here?”
