Obama was ‘bad influence’ on George W. Bush at Trump’s inauguration, Jenna jokes: ‘Can’t just blame him’

Jenna Bush Hager is exposing the family group chat.

The morning show host revealed that the text chain has been going off non-stop since her dad, George W. Bush, attended President Donald Trump’s inauguration Monday.

“You all already guessed what moment has been blowing up our family group chat,” Bush Hager, 43, said on “Today” Tuesday. “Yeah, my dad went viral for these cutaway shots during yesterday’s broadcast. The internet’s obsessed with this little smile and goofy expression.”

Trump was sworn in at the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, DC. During the ceremony, the 43rd president displayed a series of silly reactions. At one point, Bush, 78, was seen containing his laughter, raising his eyebrows and winking.

Bush Hager assumes her dad “must have made eye contact with somebody,” and teased he isn’t the only one who should be held accountable for his behavior.

“You guys, you can’t just blame him because it looks like my dad was also seated next to a bad influence. Take a look at what former President Barack Obama had to say,” she said before a clip of the 44th president flashed on screen.

“I just love how when they’re together, they become unusual friends,” she added.

Lip reader Jackie Gonzalez made a now-viral video revealing what she believed the two former presidents were discussing in one exchange.

According to Gonzalez, Obama greets Bush and tells him, “Good to see you. How can we stop what’s happening?”

Bush Hager, who was 20 when her father was first elected as Commander in Chief, went on to reveal what it’s like to watch her parents attend presidential elections.

“You know when you’re watching your kid’s holiday concert or whatever and — if you’re honest — you don’t really care about the whole scene. You’re just zooming in right on your kid,” she said.

“That’s a little bit about how we watch an inauguration in my family. I’m like, ‘What’s happening with the parents,'” Bush Hager explained on “Jenna & Friends.”

“He goes viral for basically anything. He didn’t do anything,” she said. “I mean, that’s what his face looks like.”

Despite Obama’s quip, she felt that her father was “very well-behaved.”

Bush and former first lady Laura Bush were also seated near Bill and Hillary Clinton.

After the inauguration, reporters asked Obama if he behaved during the event. “Just barely,” Obama jokingly told a Washington Post reporter.

Earlier in the day, the reporter shared another clip of Obama and the Bushes. A staffer asked George if he was “going to behave” as the trio entered the rotunda. Obama quickly answered for him, offering up a quick “nope.”

“They’re pals,” Bush Hager told her NBC viewers Tuesday. “I think it shows that even in divisive times, we have so much more that unites us. So let’s just pray for that.”
