New video shows masked hooligans taking NYC subway train for reckless joyride

New video shows a pack of masked hooligans taking an empty New York City subway train for a joyride over the weekend — as the NYPD said Wednesday it was still hunting the brazen suspects.

The reckless perps are accused of stealing the unoccupied R train from a storage yard at the Forest Hills-71 Av subway station in Queens just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, cops said.

At least six suspects were captured on CCTV video filing out of the conductor’s compartment at one point during their joyride, the footage released Wednesday shows.

The foolish teens — who were all wearing hoods — then casually strolled through the dark carriage, the clip shows.

Before managing to take the train for a spin, the shameless perps had initially tried to cover the security camera lenses with black marker in a bid to shield their identities, according to cops.

They still recorded their escapade and later posted it on Instagram, police sources said.

The adrenaline junkies reached speeds of roughly 30 mph during the brazen ride, although it wasn’t immediately clear how long their joyride lasted, or how far they took it.

At least part of their juvenile journey was taken on active train lines, sources said.

Police, who are still trying to track down those responsible, said the perps fled the scene on foot and are still at large.

The incident comes amid a rash of youth taking incredible risks on city trains.

Half a dozen people were killed — and another seven injured –subway surfing in the city last year. And the trend continued into 2025.

Just a few stops away from the Forest Hills station where the train was taken — at the Briarwood station — a 16-year-old boy fell from an F train while trying to surf last Saturday.

The teen landed hard on the train platform and was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition with leg injuries.

A day earlier a 15-year-old fell at the East Gun Hill Road station while trying to surf on a 5 train. He suffered serious head injuries and was listed in stable condition.

The NYPD has used drones to try to stop the scourge, and made more than 180 arrests of mostly teens last year.
