The late Mary Tyler Moore’s sprawling Connecticut mansion has sold for $16.9M

The late, great Mary Tyler Moore’s sprawling mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut traded hands this week, fetching $16.9 million in a deal that closed on Tuesday, according to a press release from its listing brokerage.

The new was first reported by Greenwich Time. 

The sale marks the end of a nearly two-year effort by Moore’s widower, S. Robert Levine, to part with the property, which he listed in September 2023 for $21.9 million. The sale price marks the property’s most recent asking price.

The transaction went under contract last month, as The Post first reported.

The couple purchased the Georgian Colonial-style home, constructed in 1900, in 2006 through a limited liability company for $9 million, according to property records. 

The estate, which boasts a stone facade, stretches across more than 13,800 square feet and sits on a lush 7-acre lot.

The primary suite alone encompasses more than 2,000 square feet, complete with dual bathrooms, dressing areas and ample closet space.

In sum, the residence includes five bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and two powder rooms.

Luxury abounds in the home’s features, which include a glass-walled conservatory, an elevator — and a fitness center equipped with a hot tub, a steam shower and a sauna. 

Outdoors, a 65-foot swimming pool flanked by an outdoor fireplace complements a serene pond at the rear of the property. 

Above the three-car garage, a separate one-bedroom apartment offers its own kitchen and bathroom.

Moore, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 80, left an indelible mark on entertainment, most notably through her starring role in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” a 1970s sitcom that earned her four of her seven Emmy Awards. 

Her cinematic turn in the 1980 drama “Ordinary People” also rewarded her with an Oscar nomination. 

Levine could not be reached for comment on the sale.

The home was brokered by Joseph Barbieri of Sotheby’s International Realty, who acted on Levine’s behalf. 

“It was an honor to represent this remarkable property, once home to a beloved TV icon,” Barbieri said in a statement. 

The buyer, shielded by an LLC in local records, was represented by Helene Barre and Fran Ehrlich, also of Sotheby’s. 

Neither Barre nor Ehrlich were available to comment, and representatives for the purchaser could not immediately be contacted.
