Selena Gomez has 1 major Benny Blanco wedding demand — and it involves Martin Short

When it comes to Selena Gomez’s wedding, she expects one of her “Only Murders in the Building” co-stars to pull out all the stops.

The star, 32, opened up about her impending nuptials to music producer Benny Blanco, 37, while promoting their recently released joint album, “I Said I Love You First,” on “The Drew Barrymore Show” on Thursday, March 27.

When host Drew Barrymore asked Gomez if Steve Martin, 79, and Martin Short, 75, would “officiate” the wedding, the “Sunset Blvd.” singer responded, “Oh my gosh! I hadn’t even thought about that,” before confessing the one demand she already gave Short.

“Marty is due to give a speech,” Gomez shared. “I told him he must.”

She then joked that “Steve will probably pull out his banjo,” adding, “But I feel like Marty would have an epic speech.”

Gomez — who has appeared alongside Short and Martin in the Hulu crime series since 2021 — recently opened up about her co-stars’ reactions to her engagement news.

She shared with fans that Blanco popped the question in December.

“Steve made sure he sent my assistant an email so my assistant could tell me congratulations,” the singer told Jimmy Kimmel on his late-night show in January. “That’s how he communicates. He always tries to be polite. And it’s very kind, but it’s okay to send a little text.”

Short, however, seemed to be more interested in her ring.

Kimmel chuckled when he played a viral clip of the actor admiring her diamond at the 2025 Golden Globes.

“Is he appraising it? What exactly is he doing there?” he asked.

“He’s twisting it. Taking it off. I wasn’t sure what he was doing; that’s why I look confused,” Gomez laughed. “He just wanted to know what was going on. I don’t think he cared. Maybe a little … ”

When Kimmel suggested Short or Martin be the “ringbearers” when she says “I do” to Blanco, the star responded, “That would be adorable.”

However, it was her best friend, Taylor Swift, who demanded to be in the ceremony.

When Gomez posted several photos of her ring to share her engagement news, the Grammy winner commented, “Yes I will be the flower girl.”

Swift wasn’t the only famous person who congratulated the pop sensation on her announcement.

Martin took to his social media and posted a photo of himself with Gomez and Short.

“Congratulations to Benny and Selena, from her two weird uncles,” he wrote, with the bride-to-be replying, “You are the best weirdo a gal like me can have! ❤️”

Earlier this month, Gomez and Blanco revealed they hadn’t started wedding planning yet due to their LP.

The pair six months before then.
