Here’s how Charli XCX shaded headliner Green Day at a Coachella 2025 afterparty

They don’t call her “Brat” for nothing.

British pop sensation Charli XCX — hot off a Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner) — accessorized with attitude at an afterparty, wearing a silk sash that read, “Miss Should Be Headliner” over her white minidress.

The sartorial statement made by the 32-year-old singer — at her star-studded private party held in Indio, California attended by Chalamet, Justin Bieber, Julia Fox, Reneé Rapp, Anya-Taylor Joy, Cara Delevingne, Emma Chamberlain and more — seemed to throw shade at Saturday headliner Green Day.

As Charli XCX showed in photos posted on Instagram from the Guess Jeans compound, she sure knew how to kick up a lot of dust in the desert.

Boom. Clap.

But social media was divided on Charli XCX’s apparent dig at the veteran punk-rockers behind classics such as “When I Come Around,” “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life”) and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.”

“Please. as if she’s the same caliber as green day and i’m not even that into green day,” wrote one X user.

“I loathe Green Day, but they’re way bigger and more well-known than she is,” added another.

However, others supported the artist born Charlotte Aitchison, agreeing that she should have headlined Saturday’s music festival.

“It’s the way ‘i love it’ is bigger then the entire career of green day,” wrote one X user.

“Coachella letting charli get this disrespected needs to be investigated… imagine picking green day over the future of pop,” added another.

“Charli deserved that headline slot, no cap,” wrote a third supporter.

While Charli XCX’s performance, which also featured “Talk Talk” collaborator Troye Sivan, preceded Green Day’s on the main stage, rapper Travis Scott actually followed Billie Joe Armstrong’s trio in the coveted closing slot.

Lady Gaga headlined Coachella on Friday night, while Post Malone topped the bill on Sunday.

Other performers in the annual festival included Missy Elliott, Megan Thee Stallion, Benson Boone, Lisa, Shaboozey and Zedd.

Eleven years after releasing her debut album, “True Romance,” in 2013, Charli XCX had a real breakout moment in 2024 with her “Brat” LP becoming a pop-cultural movement. In Nov. 2024, she even hosted “Saturday Night Live” and shouted out a New York Post article involving Martha Stewart.

And in February, the “360” singer won her first three Grammys for her new music, including Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Dance Pop Recording for “Von dutch.”
