I cried after giving birth because my baby was ‘so ugly’ — trolls say I’m ‘cruel,’ but I have my reasons

Some folks are born with faces that only their mothers could love — this kid wasn’t even that lucky. 

“He’s got the f- -king ugliest nose,” whined new mom Jess, a 20-something from the UK, while cradling (and critiquing) her infant son just moments after giving birth. 

“He’s so ugly,” she griped in a viral vid that’s scarred up over 1.2 million views.

“I literally stared at him and cried [because] I thought he was so ugly while I was in shock after labor,” the Gen Zer confessed in the closed-captions of the clip, admitting, however, that she eventually warmed up to her little one’s looks. 

“I thought he was cute after a few hours,” she wrote before begging social media savages not to “come for” her throat in fury. She blamed her initial repulsion to the youngster on postpartum “hormones.”

As expected, outraged digital detractors dragged the mean-spirited mama across the internet for her honest remarks — and things really got ugly.

“Baby’s first bully,” spat a stunned spectator. 

“This is actually so cruel,” a crestfallen commenter wrote.  

“Horrible,” said a bleeding heart. “Imagine knowing your mom posted this for everyone to see and laugh at you? Poor little boy.”

“Delete this now and never mention it again. You will crush [his] self-esteem forever,” another urged.

“It’s one thing to think/say it whilst just given birth,” a separate faultfinder scolded. “But to post it on a public platform for all to see and laugh at is completely disgusting to be honest!”

“Mother of the year,” another said sarcastically. 

The harsh jibes aside, Jess is far from the only parent who’s reviled their newborn child. 

Emily Crossan, a millennial mom from England, openly likened her defenseless tot to a “garden gnome,” saying: “He was so funny looking and definitely not the most attractive baby in the world.”

And shameless moms around the globe eagerly shared snaps of their cringe-worthy kiddos for the “Ugly Baby Challenge” — a virtual call to spotlight unattractive tikes. The controversial trend dominated TikTok shortly after the pandemic. 

But for labor and delivery nurses who don’t get their kicks by publicly poking fun at babies, there’s a special code that they use to covertly comment on a kid’s attractiveness — or lack thereof. 

“If the baby is cute, you can just tell them the baby’s cute,” said Miki Rai, a healthcare professional from Seattle, in a vid. 

“But if the baby is ugly,” she laughed, “you just tell [the parent] they look just like them.”
