The Issue: The mom of murdered Maryland woman Rachel Morin slamming Sen. Van Hollen’s actions.

Patty Morin asks the questions that all Americans who possess common sense should be asking: Why have those in charge let violent illegal aliens into our country to rape, vandalize and murder Americans (“Mom slams non-sen.-se pol,” April 17)?

Sen. Chris Van Hollen should have to sit in a room with the families of Rachel Morin and Laken Riley and listen to what these illegal aliens did to their children.

There is so much wrong with Van Hollen’s actions that it defies explanation.

Perhaps if his family had been directly affected, he would feel differently.

Van Hollen’s selective indignation reveals his true priority: political theater, not constitutional principle.

His international advocacy tour, complete with press conferences and social-media updates, serves his image while ignoring the daily reality facing so many American citizens.

If due process matters to Van Hollen only when it generates headlines for a noncitizen, it’s not principle — it’s posturing.

Americans deserve representatives who champion their constitutional rights with the same fervor shown toward noncitizens.

Until then, Van Hollen’s crusade stands as cynical political theater draped in constitutional rhetoric.

Van Hollen has ignored the pleas of another murder victim’s mother and gone to El Salvador to rescue an alleged member of MS-13.

Fortunately, El Salvador President Nayib Bukele has teamed with President Trump and will send Van Hollen home with nothing more than his tail between his legs.

In effect, Bukele is providing more protection to the American people than Van Hollen.

It’s laughable: The feigned outrage by some people chastising Democrat politicians for going to El Salvador to rescue an alleged gang member.

There is nobody to blame but yourselves; you elected these morons.

Van Hollen repeatedly sidesteps questions about whether Kilmar Abrego Garcia was an MS-13 gangbanger, as President Trump has alleged.

Why does this matter?

Abrego Garcia was a criminal in the United States regardless, according to 8 US Code 1325.

Illegal US border crashers violate this code by eluding inspection or by entering with false information, which can be a felony and criminal act.

The Issue: Cornell University’s campus concert featuring anti-Jew artist Kehlani.

Cornell University inviting the Jew-hating celebrity Kehlani to perform at the school is beyond disgusting (“Ivy hate invite,” April 21).

It validates the commendable effort by the Trump administration to freeze $1 billion in federal funding to that clueless institution.

Cornell’s lame excuse was that it was only doing what the students wanted.

Gee: I hope that the student board’s next request isn’t for the appearance and performance of a band called “Adolf and the Nazis.”

Cornell clearly hasn’t learned a thing from Columbia and Harvard universities.

This is yet another example of Cornell’s outright indifference to its Jewish community.

Whoever allowed the performance should be shown the door.

There is no place for hateful rhetoric to poison the minds on college campuses.

Undoubtedly, President Trump will take note of this conduct and hit Cornell hard in the wallet.
