Dave Portnoy knows how Bill Belichick can quiet all the Jordon Hudson drama

Dave Portnoy said there’s one way for Bill Belichick to kill the drama surrounding his and Jordon Hudson’s relationship amid the fallout from the UNC football coach’s recent “CBS Sunday Mornings” interview: win.

During a Thursdayknows the couple personally, explained how Belichick, 73, can control the narrative about him and the 24-year-old Hudson.

“Listen, winning cures all,” Portnoy said of Belichick, who’s preparing for his coaching debut at the college level. “So, if Belichick and UNC have a great season, nobody’s going to care, this will be a dead story.

A native of Boston and lifelong Patriots fan, Portnoy lives on Nantucket near Belichick and Hudson.

“I’m obviously a disciple of Belichick. I’m a Patriot diehard,” Portnoy said. “The whole thing is strange to me. I also know Bill and I know Jordon. It is surprising to me how it built up, but he’s the greatest football coach of all time, so maybe it’s expected.”

During a Portnoy said he knew Hudson “was running the whole show” for a while, in terms of her involvement in Belichick’s career and business.

“I don’t know why she’s so involved, I really don’t,” Portnoy said, adding that it’s an “awkward situation.”

“I’ve met her. She’s nice enough — she’s running the whole show. I’ve know that a couple months ago. Every piece of Bill Belichick’s business goes through her.”

Belichick and Hudson are at the center of a media firestorm after she interrupted his “CBS Sunday Mornings” interview, which aired April 27.

The former cheerleader at Bridgewater State University stopped Belichick from answering CBS’s Tony Dokoupil’s question about how they met.

“We’re not talking about this,” Hudson said.

“No,” Dokoupil replied as he looked over at Hudson, who responded, “No.”

Dokoupil added that Hudson was a constant presence during the interview and that the couple was “uncomfortable” talking about how they met.

After CBS included Hudson’s interjection in the final edit of the interview, multiple reports said she is overly involved in Belichick’s career and acting as his representative at UNC and beyond.

Hudson referred to herself as the chief operating officer of Belichick Productions in a December 2024 email to North Carolina officials, according to The Athletic, which said it was not able to identify any company registered under that name.

She reportedly was the reason UNC and NFL Films didn’t move forward on a nearly done deal to feature the Belichick and the football program “Hard Knocks.”

Belichick said in a statement Wednesday that Hudson wasn’t trying to control his CBS interview but instead “doing her job,” and they were under the impression the interview topics would focus the interview solely on his new book, “The Art of Winning: Lessons from My Life in Football,” which releases May 6.

CBS hit back in its own statement Wednesday, saying that there were no “preconditions or limitations” for the interview.

“When we agreed to speak with Mr. Belichick, it was for a wide-ranging interview,” the statement said. “There were no preconditions or limitations to this conversation. This was confirmed repeatedly with his publisher before the interview took place and after it was completed.”
