Giants’ Brian Burns, Wan’Dale Robinson shaken up after scary ‘T-bone’ collision at training camp

The thud sounded like something more apt to be heard on the nearby New Jersey Turnpike in rush hour than in a non-padded football practice.

Outside linebacker Brian Burns and receiver Wan’Dale Robinson never saw each other coming and collided at full speed Friday during an 11-on-11 portion of Giants practice.

The force knocked both players off their feet and to the ground, where they received immediate attention from trainers.

A hustling Burns was in pursuit of ball carrier Greg Dulcich and shoved the tight end to the ground just before taking two more steps and blindsiding Robinson.

Coming from the other direction ahead of the ball, Robinson had his hands raised in the air as if to show the officials that he was not illegally blocking anyone.

Robinson and Burns eventually walked off the field and back to the locker room under their own power and did not return to practice. Both put their hands to their lower backs.

“It was loud,” safety Jevon Holland said. “You just run into somebody. Like, you don’t see somebody, they T-bone you in the car.”

It’s not exactly a fair fight between the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Burns and the notoriously pound-for-pound tough 5-foot-8, 185-pound Robinson.

“It’s tough,” linebacker Bobby Okereke told The Post. “Guys are competitive, it’s a hot day out there, guys are straining. You never want to see someone get hurt, so just praying that those guys are healthy and back on the field soon.”

The Giants are off Saturday before training camp resumes Sunday.

Justin Pugh, the Giants’ 2013 first-round pick, announced his retirement Friday in front of family, friends and former teammates gathered at the practice facility.

Pugh played six of his 11 NFL seasons with the Giants over two stints, including bailing out an injury-plagued offensive line by coming “straight off the couch” for his final season in 2023.

“I knew something that always stuck with me: The Giants gave me my opportunity and there was something special about putting that New York logo on one more time,” Pugh said.

“There was something special about finishing my career where it started. There was something special about being back in this city.”

Pugh has begun a second career as a social media NFL content creator.

Head coach Brian Daboll added an extra three-minute break into the practice plan to account for the 90-degree heat.

TE Theo Johnson met arguably the most famous woman in the world this summer.

Johnson was at “Tight End U.” — a gathering of NFL tight ends co-run by Travis Kelce, boyfriend to pop star Taylor Swift.

“I didn’t ask her for pictures,” Johnson said with a laugh. “I don’t have a ton of music on my phone for her.”
