Trove of Shane Tamura’s newly released records shed light on Midtown shooter’s disturbing mental health history
The frantic mom of mass shooter Shane Tamura had repeatedly called 911 on her mentally ill son in the years before he shot up a Manhattan skyscraper — once telling cops he was threatening to kill himself and that he suffered from a sports-related concussion, newly released audio shows.
The 911 audio was among a trove of materials released by cops in Tamura’s hometown of Las Vegas on Tuesday — as the NYPD continues to probe last week’s bloodshed in which he killed four innocent people when he stormed the towering Midtown office building.
The 27-year-old mass shooter had claimed he had CTE and accused the NFL, which has offices at 345 Park Ave., of covering up the dangers of brain injuries in his apparent suicide note that was stashed in his wallet when he opened fire in the high-rise, sources previously told The Post.
Three years earlier, Tamura’s mom had made similar claims when she called cops on him, according to the audio.
On Sept. 12, 2022, Tamura’s mother hurriedly called emergency dispatchers to warn them that her son kept a gun in his backpack and was threatening to kill himself.
“He said he’s going to kill himself,” she said in the recording. “He didn’t say he made a plan, he just said he just can’t take it anymore.”
