Florida mother stunned after giving birth to massive, record-breaking baby: ‘What are they pulling out of me?’

It was a supersized surprise. 

A Florida mom was left stunned when she gave birth to a baby boy nearly twice the size of an average newborn – an enormous bundle of joy that set a hospital record.

Daniella Hines, 40, told TODAY she felt unusual pain and pressure during her C-section at St. Joseph’s Hospital-South in Riverview on Sept. 3.

But it all made sense once nursers revealed her massive 13-pound, 15-ounce son named Annan.

“I remember thinking, ‘What are they pulling out of me? What is going on here?’” Hines said.

“I felt so much pressure. He was so big. I was like, ‘Whose baby is this? He came out of me?’”

The mom of two said the discomfort she endured during the surgical delivery was very different from when she birthed her older son, who himself arrived weighing in at a staggering 12 pounds, 11 ounces. 

Hines, an entrepreneur, credits her and her husband’s 6-foot stature for their hefty tot’s unusually large size — roughly that of a 4-month-old. 

“He was the talk of the maternity ward,” Hines shared with the outlet.

“Then everybody starts coming in because it’s not every day you see an almost 14-pound baby pop out. He was like a little celebrity.”

The hospital shared photos of the giant infant on Facebook, calling Annan a “miracle” and boasting that he may be the biggest baby ever born there. 

Hines, diagnosed with gestational diabetes during her pregnancy, said her baby is “really chill” until hunger strikes, but can’t wait to continue showering him with love as he grows.

“We didn’t expect such a big blessing,” the doting mother said. 

“But it’s just more to love. I can’t wait to show him when he gets older: ‘Look you were in the news!’”

According to Guinness World Records, the heaviest baby on record, weighing 22 pounds, was born in Italy in 1955.
