Russia launches large-scale attack on Ukrainian city, killing 2 and injuring at least 20
Russia fired another large-scale volley at Ukraine early Tuesday, killing two people and injuring another 20, including four children, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
More than 250 drones and bombs were deployed overnight against Ukraine, with nearly a dozen projectiles hitting the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, killing a 41-year-old man and injuring two children, local officials also said.
“I heard some distant explosions, very far away, so we went to sleep. And then there was a super strong explosion which blew out our windows,” Zaporizhzhia resident Oleksii, 35, told Reuters.
“I immediately went outside and ran to my neighbors to extinguish the fire. I was so worried about them,” Oleksii added.
Russian bombs caused damage to at least 10 apartment buildings and 12 homes in the city, according to regional Gov. Ivan Fedorov.
“We hadn’t yet recovered from enemy strikes on Aug. 30,” Fedorov noted on national TV. “We are currently repairing those buildings, those windows, but now the enemy has added more work for our municipal workers.”
