Boater bros trash Playland amusement park on ritzy NY waterfront, steal 200 stuffed animals: cops

Cops didn’t find them amusing.

Three bros trashed Playland amusement park in Westchester County in an overnight raid where they stole 200 stuffed animals — then escaped the historic waterfront destination by boat, cops said Thursday.

The vandals, who were caught on surveillance video while marauding throughout the 280-acre suburban park, landed a small boat on the beach shortly before midnight on Sept. 23 and climbed over a fence to get inside — vandalizing the park until casting off early the next morning, Westchester County police said in a release.

“This incident is both infuriating and heartbreaking,” Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said in a statement Thursday. “Being young is one thing. Being destructive is another.

“I am angry and deeply disappointed by the actions of the individuals who broke into Playland Park and caused such senseless destruction,” Jenkins added.

County police said the three, including one dope seen walking through one of the rides barefooted, raided an electrical room, where they cut and ripped out fiber optic cables, stole about 200 stuffed animals that they packed in plastic garbage bags while at the park.

They also tried to toss a portable photo booth off the boardwalk but couldn’t get it over the railing.

“It’s a betrayal of the respect and pride we expect from members of our community,” Jenkins said. “I know our county police are working hard to identify those responsible, and I urge anyone who recognizes these individuals to come forward.”

Cops are asking any one who can identify the three to call the department’s general investigations unit at 914-864-7916 or 1-800-898-TIPS.

The senseless vandalism is similar to an incident in June that left the historic Tarrytown Lighthouse trashed and charred with at least $100,000 in damages.

In that case, three teens — Elvin Ayavaca, 18, of White Plains and Richard Barrero, 19, of Harrison, and an unidentified 17-year-old — were arrested and charged with breaking into the 142-year-old landmark, stealing items and setting it on fire.
