Hillary mocked after blasting Trump’s White House ballroom construction: ‘A Clinton would never defile the WH’

Ex-White House residents Bill and Hillary Clinton were mocked on social media Tuesday after the former first lady criticized President Trump’s latest construction project at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Hillary took issue with the demolition that began Monday on the East Wing of the White House to accommodate Trump’s massive, $250 million ballroom, making it clear that she’s no fan of the renovation.

“It’s not his house. It’s your house. And he’s destroying it,” she wrote on X Tuesday morning.

Hillary included an image taken from the Washington Post’s coverage of the partial teardown in her tweet, showing rubble piling up as a demolition crew ripped the facade off the East Wing.

Social media users were quick to point out that the Clintons didn’t exactly treat the Executive Mansion with reverence when they occupied it.

“Yes, between selling nights in the Lincoln bedroom to donors and her husband’s tutelage of the interns in the Oval Office, if anyone treated the WH as sacred it was the Clintons,” writer Mark Hemingway wrote on X.

Hemingway was alluding to Bill’s infamous overnight stays in the Lincoln Bedroom.

Alex Pfeiffer, a former White House staffer, quipped: “A Clinton would never defile the White House.”

Several other users noted that the Clintons took $28,000 in furnishings that belonged to the White House’s permanent collection and hundreds of thousands of dollars in flatware when Bill left office in 2001.

“I remember when the Clintons stole the people’s furniture and tableware,” conservative columnist David Harsanyi tweeted

Some pointed out that White House renovations are quite common, as new presidents and first ladies often want to add their personal touch to the historic property — and the Clintons aren’t an exception.

“Almost every president has done renovations to the White House including the Clintons who did a big spread in House Beautiful in 1993 about theirs,” journalist Salena Zito noted in an X post.

“The East Wing façade is just that a façade,” Zito continued, “not part of the original structure and added in 1942 per Franklin D. Roosevelt.”

“The ballroom will be spectacular… unlike your work in Haiti,” the first son wrote on X

The 90,000-square-foot “White House State Ballroom,” as it’s being officially called, will be able to fit 650 people when construction is completed.

The project is expected to be done before Trump leaves office in 2029.

The president has said the project is being funded entirely via donations and will not cost taxpayers a dime.

“Failed presidential candidate and former first lady Crooked Hillary Clinton stole furniture from the White House on her way out until she was forced to return it. Crooked Hilary is shameless and a total disgrace,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle told The Post, when asked about Hillary’s tweet.

“Meanwhile, President Trump is restoring the White House to its proper glory for Americans to enjoy for generations to come — at no expense to the taxpayer — something we should all celebrate,” Ingle added.
