Ex-WWE star Mike ‘IRS’ Rotunda placed in hospice

WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda — known best as IRS or Irwin R. Schyster — has been placed in hospice care, according to multiple reports.

Former tag team partner and brother-in-law Barry Windham revealed the update Saturday when discussing Rotunda’s late son and fellow ex-WWE Star, Windham Rotunda, known as Bray Wyatt.

“It’s kinda tough right now. Mike is in hospice right now,” Windham told Billy Apter of Rotunda, 67. “So, anyway, I love that family, but it’s so tragic.”

Another former WWE star, Leilani Kai, posted a photo of her and Rotunda to X while writing he had been placed in hospice.

“It breaks my heart to share that my friend Mike Rotunda has been placed under hospice care. 💔 This photo was from earlier this year — a moment I’ll treasure,” wrote Kai, real name Patty Seymour. “Please keep Mike and the Rotunda family in your prayers. We love you, Mike. ❤️ #WrestlingFamily.”

Rotunda is known for his time is WWE and WCW, most notably his time as IRS.

He formed the notable tag team The U.S. Express with Windham in the early 1980s, winning the tag team championships twice, before exiting the company.

Rotunda returned in 1991 to begin his run as IRS, who dressed in a white buttoned shirt and suspenders, forming another notable tag team with Ted DiBiase dubbed “Money Inc.”

They won the tag titles three times, and faced Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake in a tag team championship match at WrestleMania IX in 1993.

He later joined WCW as V.K. Wallstreet, a play off former WWE owner Vincent Kennedy McMahon.

WWE inducted Rotunda and Windham into the Hall of Fame in 2024 for their tag team contributions.

The Rotunda family dealt with tragedy two years ago when Windham Rotunda died from a heart attack at the age of 36.

His other son, Taylor Rotunda, wrestles for WWE as Bo Dallas.
