Six nudists busted in birthday suits for stripping down at the wrong Florida beach

Six people were arrested for stripping naked on a Florida beach while a nearby nudist one is temporarily closed, according to police.

The nudists were busted in their birthday suits at Little Mud Creek beach in Fort Pierce Saturday while using it as a substitute for the clothing-optional Blind Creek Beach, which is closed for renovation, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.

Daniel Harrisson, Donald Knapp, Gaetane Lambert, Steven Marhenke, Elmer Quandt and Nicolas Ramos were charged with indecent exposure and exposure of sexual organs, according to the sheriff’s office.

The naked truth is you can’t just peel off your clothes at any beach, cops said.

“While the ongoing Blind Creek Beach renovation project may be a temporary inconvenience to beach goers, it does not permit the use of undesignated public areas as extensions of the designated nude-optional beach,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook.

“Visitors are reminded to stay within the clearly posted nude-optional boundaries and to cover up before leaving those areas or entering parking lots and public spaces.”

But beach goers who were naked as a jaybird over the weekend said migrating north is no big deal.

“I just like a tan with no tan line,” one of the nudists told CBS 12.

“I don’t feel I’m harming anyone,” another protested.

Others contended that folks should button up unless they’re at a designated nudist beach

“They need to stay within the boundaries of where the nudity part is allowed,” said one Little Mud Creek beach-goer. 

“Young families could be here and [in] reality, the sign does say you have to be clothed or in a bathing suit,” another beach-goer said.

Officials have posted signs at Little Mud Creek warning people to cover up and deputies have increased patrols in the area since September to curb nudity at the beach.

Police efforts first focused on education and outreach to no avail, they said.
