Dodgers World Series win sparks chaos in LA streets — police deploy tear gas after being struck by fireworks, bottles

Erratic Dodgers fans took over the streets of Los Angeles to celebrate the team’s second straight World Series title early Sunday morning while police officers were struck by “industrial-sized fireworks and bottles.”

Thousands of Angelenos converged around the city after the Dodgers clinched their thrilling extra innings 5-4 win in Game 7 over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Police, however, were forced to deploy tear gas and less-than-lethal weapons once the rowdy revelers escalated their celebrations, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

A “Dispersal Order” was declared in Downtown LA around 12:30 a.m. when police said their officers were being hit with the fireworks and bottles.

The large pyrotechnics were also launched at a large crowd of people and officers conducting crowd control near Sunset Blvd and Echo Park, blocks away from Dodger Stadium.

The overrun cops were given the go-ahead to use less-than-lethal munitions to disperse the crowds that failed to listen to the verbal orders.

A large crowd in the downtown area allegedly vandalized an autonomous vehicle, police said.

Several cars took over an intersection in the Pacoima neighborhood and did donuts and burnouts, creating smoke for the thrill of the crowd that had gathered, according to footage from KTLA.

Roughly 350 to 400 people were at the intersection, the outlet reported, citing police.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass encouraged residents to bask in the win, but condemned violent celebrations.

“Once again, we showed the world that LA is the city of champions,” Bass wrote on X. “Celebrate safely and responsibly tonight, Dodgers fans. LAPD is on heightened alert and coordinating with regional law enforcement. There will be no tolerance for anyone who tries to take advantage of this win.”

During last year’s celebration, a 25-year-old Dodgers fan partially blew off his hand with a firework after setting off a firework.

The firework blows up in his hands before he can place it and walk away — covering him in smoke and spraying sparks and blood across the avenue.

Other celebrations across the city remained peaceful, with joyful fans decked out in Dodgers gear, cheering and dancing in the streets.

One dog owner held up his pooch, an alleged Dodgers fan, and celebrated with other fanatics on Atlantic Boulevard.

“She’s been waiting for this day, ” owner Eddie told KTLA while he held his dog Pebbles as fireworks exploded overhead. “We deserved it. We fought for it.

“Toronto had a great team, but we’re the greatest,” Eddie said.

“It’s crazy out here, back to back,” Dodger fan Steven Gomez told the Los Angeles Times. “LA never gives up, man. Like Kobe said, the job isn’t finished.”

“This is LA. We love all coming out together as a community,” Gomez said.

President Donald Trump offered congratulations to the World Series Champions and extended an invitation to visit the White House in Washington, DC.

“Congratulations to the LA Dodgers, a game won by incredible CHAMPIONS!!! A lesser group of men would never have been able to win that game, or game 6, for that matter. So many stars made it all happen. Also, congratulations to ownership. What a great job they have done. SEE YOU ALL AT THE WHITE HOUSE!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP,” he wrote on Truth Social.

The Dodgers became just the 14th team to win back-to-back World Series, and the first since the New York Yankees won three in a row between 1998 and 2000.

Dodgers co-owner and NBA legend Magic Johnson said the win was greater than the team.

“With the wildfires, we needed this too,” Dodgers co-owner and NBA great Magic Johnson told CBS LA. “This [helps] bring our city back closer together.”

The Dodgers will fly from Toronto to Los Angeles Sunday and the city will prepare for its second parade in the past year.

The champions parade has been scheduled for Monday and will run through Downtown LA along with a ticketed celebration at Dodger Stadium, the team announced after the win.
