Woman, 27, fatally struck by wrong-way NYC driver ID’d as transplant from Massachusetts planning wedding
The 27-year-old woman fatally struck by a wrong-way driver in Greenwich Village this week has been identified as a transplant from Massachusetts who was planning to get married next year.
Valerie Schoeck – originally from Cambridge but living in the West Village – was crossing Morton Street at the Seventh Avenue South intersection just after 8:30 a.m. when a driver in a black van rammed into her, authorities and sources said.
She was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, but ultimately could not be saved, cops said.
Schoeck was preparing to get married next summer, according to a woman named Carol who identified herself as her fiancé’s aunt.
