J.K. Dobbins out for the ‘foreseeable future’ in crushing Broncos blow

The Broncos got brutal news on J.K. Dobbins on Friday. 

NFL Network reported that the star running back will miss Denver’s rivalry matchup against the Chiefs on Sunday with a “significant foot injury and is believed to be out for the foreseeable future.”

Dobbins is reportedly “working through options,” although an injured reserve stint, which would sideline him for at least four games, “remains a possibility,” according to NFL Network. 

The injury is a major blow to a Broncos team in the midst of a playoff run. 

In 10 games this season, Dobbins has run for 772 yards with four touchdowns while nailing down the starting running back job for the team. 

The latest ailment adds to a long list of injuries Dobbins has dealt with during his NFL career. 

Since being drafted in the 2nd round by the Ravens in 2020, he’s played in just 47 regular-season games. 

Dobbins missed the entire 2021 season with a torn ACL and played just one game in the 2023 season after suffering a torn Achilles in the Ravens’ season-opening game. 

Rookie RJ Harvey is expected to take over the starting running back role in Dobbins’ absence. 

Harvey, who was taken in the second round of last April’s draft, has been used primarily as a pass-catching back in his short NFL career, although he has run for 214 yards on 50 attempts with two touchdowns. 

Sitting at 8-2, the Broncos will look to extend their lead in the AFC West over the 5-4 Chiefs on Sunday in Denver.
