MEMORY LANE

A TRIP to West 42nd Street last week was a Twilight Zone-like time warp for former NYPD detective Randy Jurgensen. In the 1970s, the tough ex-cop went undercover to catch two violent sexual predators preying on gay men in the once-seedy Times Square area. His exploits were turned into the 1980 Al Pacino flick “Cruising,” which has just been re-released at the E-Walk multiplex. As Jurgensen, now a successful author and Hollywood consultant, watched the raunchy, R-rated film, there were looks of horror on the faces of unsuspecting out-of-towners who know only the Disney-fied Forty Deuce.
