COMMUNITY Board 3 voted Monday night to strip The Box of its liquor license because too many people were having too much fun. The nightlife-negating board members also claim owner Simon Hammerstein misled them when he first applied, claiming he was opening a dinner theater, when The Box is actually a cabaret. The Chrystie Street venue can appeal the vote. Then, it’s up to the State Liquor Authority. But one early-to-bed neighbor exulted, “The decision is the beginning to the end of a two-year nightmare.” Hammerstein couldn’t be reached.
