Hollywood’s Oscar season officially kicked off over the weekend when honorary awards were given out by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences at the annual Governors Awards — and studios and stars capitalized on the occasion to begin building buzz for their own projects.

Among those honored were Jeff Bridges, Laura Dern.

Guests were touting their own Oscar-buzzed titles including “La La Land,” “Moonlight,” “Sully,” “Hacksaw Ridge,” “20th Century Women,” “Manchester by the Sea,” “Nocturnal Animals” and others.

Brad Grey of Paramount was in China for 40 hours over the weekend, managing to squeeze in a split from Angelina Jolie.

Grey then headed back to LA to host a starry Tower Bar after-party for his studio’s films — including Amy Adams’ new sci-fi drama “Arrival,” Meryl Streep movie “Florence Foster Jenkins,” Martin Scorsese’s “Silence” and Denzel Washington’s “Fences” — where guests included Marion Cotillard, Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield and Lupita Nyong’o.
