Lori Loughlin, Felicity Huffman become Twitter joke amid college admissions scandal
busted in a college admissions cheating scandal on Tuesday.
Huffman, famous for her role on the long-running ABC series “Desperate Housewives,” and Loughlin, best known for her role as the angelic Aunt Becky on “Full House,” have both enjoyed squeaky-clean reputations in Hollywood, so Twitter had some major schadenfreude fun upon witnessing the stars’ falls from grace.
“If I’m Aunt Becky, I try to pin the whole thing on Kimmy Gibbler. Involve the Katsopolis Crime Syndicate. Get it done,” joked one Twitter user.
“Aunt Becky is involved in a college sports scandal uncovered by the FBI. Don’t ever let anyone tell you college sports aren’t the greatest, dumbest sports,” wrote another.
Comedian Billy Eichner, meanwhile, joked on Twitter, “TERI HATCHER GOT ME INTO BROWN. JUDITH LIGHT GOT ME WAIT LISTED AT TUFTS,” leading to a number of fans chiming in.
But some other users were outraged, with one mom writing, “I have been holding my daughter’s hand thru frustration & tears these past 6 months as she has been working her tail off to get a decent ACT score. What are you teaching your kids? Why cheat them of the experience of hard work & accomplishment? @LoriLoughlin #parenting.”
“Real Housewives of New York City” star Bethenny Frankel even appeared to liken the scandal to “Empire” star Jussie Smollett’s alleged hate crime hoax. “Scamming to get sympathy that you were gay bashed. Scamming to brag to your friends about how smart your kid is. What’s next?” she tweeted.
