Jussie Smollett arrives in court for hearing

Actor Jussie Smollett arrived at court in Chicago on Tuesday for a hearing about media coverage of his case.

The “Empire” actor wasn’t required to attend the hearing, in which a judge will consider a motion from the media to allow cameras in the courtroom during future proceedings, according to ABC Chicago.

Smollett’s surprise court appearance comes just days ahead of his scheduled arraignment Thursday.

The 36-year-old was hit with a 16-count indictment Friday for allegedly lying to police that he was the victim of a hate crime in January.
