Kevin Costner jokes he needed a ‘tour director’ to keep track of five kids on Cannes trip

Kevin Costner brought five of his seven children to the Cannes Film Festival and joked that he needed a “tour director” to keep them in line.

“I wanted them to see me work. I got them tuxedos, I got them dresses,” the actor, 69, said during a “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” appearance Tuesday.

However, he recalled, “The minute they got there, my two sons went fishing. … My three daughters ended up on a boat, and said they’d see me around three or four o’clock … and then I get a call and they were drinking drinks at this point, so they cruised in about eight.

“I said, ‘We came to France to be as a family.’ They go, ‘It’s working great dad. What do we do next?'” the “Yellowstone” alum continued. “I said, ‘I don’t know. We need a tour director to figure that out.'”

Annie, 40, Lily, 37, Cayden, 17, Hayes, 15, and Grace, 13, accompanied Costner on the France trip, making a rare red carpet appearance on Sunday to promote “Horizon: An American Saga.”

The Oscar winner’s family members were also present as he received the Order of Arts and Letters from the Minister of Culture the following day.

Costner’s eldest two sons, Joe, 36, and Liam, 26 — whom he shares with Cindy Silva and Bridget Rooney, respectively — did not make the trip.

Notably, Hayes has a role the film, which Costner raved about in Tuesday’s interview.

“He didn’t have to audition,” he joked. “I know these parts are so important in people’s career, so I don’t just hand them out like candy.”

The director also clarified that he did not “f–king cry” during the movie’s 11-minute standing ovation.

He did divorce from Christine Baumgartner.

Costner felt “broken” on a “daily basis,” he admitted to the outlet.

“I’ve taken big bites out of life, life’s taken big ones out of me,” the Golden Globe winner added. “I’m not going to lose myself because I’ve been bruised. I have been, but I’m not going to lose myself.”
