Kamala Harris paid Oprah Winfrey’s production company $1M during campaign — but TV legend didn’t get a dime

Kamala Harris paid Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions $1 million during her presidential campaign — but the TV icon denied pocketing part of that money.

Following Washington Examiner reported that Harris “paid more than $15 million, according to federal filings,” on “event production.”

That payment included a $1 million payment to Harpo Productions for the “United for America” town hall, which was live-streamed on Sept. 19 and hosted by Winfrey, 70.

The “Wrinkle in Time” star asked Harris, 60, how she would tackle immigration, gun violence and abortion rights.

“This is the moment for people who are tired of all of the bickering and all of the name calling, people who are exhausted by the craziness and the made up stories and the conspiracies,” Winfrey told the audience at the end of the event.

“You know that we can do better and that we deserve better. You know this. I know you know this … we’re better than this.”

Several stars attended the virtual town hall, including Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep and Tracee Ellis Ross.

Winfrey denied that she was paid part of that money to endorse Kamala Harris during the 2024 presidential election on Monday night.

“I was not paid a dime. My time and energy was my way of supporting the campaign,” she wrote in the comments section of the Shade Room’s Instagram post about the rumors.

“For the live-streaming event in September, my production company Harpo was asked to bring in set design, lights, cameras, microphones, crew, producers, and every other item necessary (including the benches and chairs we sat on) to put on a live production,” the “Color Purple” actress added.

“I did not take any personal fee. However the people who worked on that production needed to be paid. And were. End of story.”

Winfrey also supported Harris at her campaign rally on Nov. 4 in Philadelphia as the latter competed against Trump for President of the United States.

At the time, the former TV host urged people to vote after she ran into a woman who told her she would “sit” this election out.

“So I said, ‘sit this one out’. We don’t get to sit this one out. If we don’t show up tomorrow, it is entirely possible that we will not have the opportunity to ever cast a ballot again,” she said on stage.

“And let me be very clear, if you do not make sure that the people in your life can get to the polls, that is a mistake.”
