Kate Middleton skips Prince William’s annual polo match as she struggles to ‘function normally’ after cancer battle

One day at a time.

Kate Middleton is easing back into her royal routine after going into remission from cancer.

The Princess of Wales, 43, skipped her husband Prince William’s annual polo match on Friday.

Every year, the Prince of Wales, also 43, competes in the Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Charity Polo Cup, which raises funds for various charities that the royal couple supports.

William attended the sporting event Friday at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor, UK, wearing a blue jersey with the No. 4 on it, white trousers and brown riding boots.

Middleton also chose to miss out on the 2024 Polo Cup, but was present for the competition in 2023.

She was seen at the time having fun and laughing while looking put-together in a blue and white dress.

Middleton has made it known that it will take time to get back to her regular schedule after fighting cancer.

The princess revealed in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with the deadly disease.

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous,” she explained in a heartfelt video at the time.

“However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

After taking a leave of absence from major events, including the royal family’s completed her cancer treatment in September 2024 following an “incredibly tough” battle.

Just last week, the not back to normal — just yet.

“You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to,” she said while visiting Colchester Hospital on July 2.

“And actually, [having] someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable.”

In June, Middleton also unexpectedly pulled out from the Royal Ascot, a week-long series of horse races closely linked to the British royal family and founded by Queen Anne in 1711.
