The boho trend will be everywhere this fall — here’s how to wear it

Boho’s back in a big way this season, and it’s never looked better.

While free-spirited fashions have cycled in and out of favor since the ’60s and ’70s (thank Stevie Nicks, Janis Jopin and Joni Mitchell), they’ve never felt more relevant — or refined.

Forget about the flower crowns, gladiator sandals and tiered cotton maxi skirts that marked this trend’s last big revival in the early aughts; this time around, driven largely by Chemena Kamali’s coveted collections for Chloé, the boho look’s softer and more sophisticated.

To incorporate it into your own closet, look for expressive prints, romantic ruffles, luxe fabrics like velvet and lace and rich textures like shearling and suede.

The best part? This particular trend can be had at a wide variety of price points. To prove it, I stopped by Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship recently to put together two different outfits that embody the boho resurgence; one priced at over $1,000, the other at around $300.

Look 1: Knits and fringe

Autumn’s earthy color palette is a perfect match for the boho look. A fringe-trimmed camel coat is equal parts elegant and eclectic, and you can’t go wrong with a knit dress or separates featuring a maximalist print.

Look 2: Faux suede and florals

You don’t need to shell out on actual suede to get in on the trend; faux options abound, and look just as cool as the real deal. And for those who find groovy patterns too bold, feminine florals are a fantastic option.
