Shoppers sleep in tents, hire ‘line sitters’ for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s The Row sample sale

It’s giving more Skid Row than The Row.

Page Six hears the line for the sample sale for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s coveted luxury line, The Row, stretched around the block outside the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City the night before the sale started — with shoppers even setting up tents along the sidewalk to camp out in advance to snag a coveted spot.

But of course, the truly chic would never camp out in the fashion trenches, and instead hired people to stand in line for them.

“I hired a line sitter and they’ve texted me because they are there,” shared one TikToker. “She is 68th in line at 11:12 PM the night before.”

Another reported, “80 to 100 line sitters in front of us in tents that had been sleeping there overnight. These people did not mess around. They came to play.”

Play, and pay! Some allegedly forked over $150 to try and skip their way to the front.

“People are bribing the security guard to skip the line,” one woman, who showed up at 3a.m. alleged. “People are 100% cutting the line.”

Another bleary-eyed early shopper, who showed up at 5a.m., summed up the scene succinctly: “S–t was f–king crazy… It was intense.”

The poster also boasted she found a discarded chair to sit on, but recounted that it, “was stolen by the time I was getting in.”

Once finally inside, relative bargain hunters had their pick of 75% off items, and TikTok was teeming with videos of chic women showing off their hauls.

“It was worth it,” influencer Serena Kerrigan surmised. She also noted that, once inside, chaos led to camaraderie.

“When I went to the dressing room, I saw that everyone was just trading pieces and giving them to one another if they didn’t want it,” she noted.

Something Navy’s Arielle Charnas showed off her picks, including a black blazer she scored for $612, down from $2,450.

The Row sale has gained a reputation as being one of the wildest fashion scenes.

Line sitters and long waits also occurred during the line’s 2023 event, with reports that people in line had taken the day off work, or were seen balancing laptops for “remote work” as they waited for 12 hours.
