A devil seems to be placing wicked letter curses on all your loot. Remove their fiendish magic by forming English words out of them. Pieces of items that form the word (at least 4 letters long) will get activated to block, attack or do something else. Be careful however, as it would be unwise to point a sword at yourself...
The devil is in the details. And in this case the details are emotions of the words you use. If your words are too negative it will only make the devil and his curses stronger. But if your words are all sunshine and roses, the devil will start to lose his power.
