Description

Steps to reproduce

  1. In the Wikipedia app for android configure multiple languages in Settings -> Wikipedia-languages
  2. Open some page in English Wikipedia
  3. 1. Then leave the tab open and search for that article in the app in some other language (e.g. Spanish)
  4. 2. Then close the tab and search for that article in the app in some other language (e.g. Spanish)

Expected results

When another language is selected in the search it should show the result for that language. For example one may want to open the same article (that is same subject) in two languages in two tabs.

Actual results

In the first image the English WP version of the article is open in another tab; in the second image I have closed the tab but it's still in the tab history. However, I wanted to see the Spanish Wikipedia article and could not open it. Notice that except for this one page all the other search results are from Spanish Wikipedia. Not even closing the tab did help but that shouldn't be required. If you think it's useful show both the Spanish and the English article but in the "Spanish" tab of the search I think only Spanish-WP pages should be shown (maybe at some point also e.g. ENWP article machine translated to Spanish in addition but still only Spanish pages).

@Danielyepezgarces Did you first open the English Wikipedia article and while having that tab open search in the other language? The above are screenshot of the bug as it happened so clearly there is an issue and I did not upgrade the Wikipedia app in the meantime. I will try with another article but even if it does not reoccur there is a bug somewhere (maybe really low importance if it occurs just very rarely but I'll test).

You're right, if it happens, I've already validated it on iOS and that error doesn't exist

Been too slow to re-test it: it's still happening so it's repeatable. I don't understand what you mean with "that error doesn't exist". I went from the English article directly to the search which is still set to Spanish and entered some part of the article title.

I say that for the iOS version the error is not occurring, I just retracted what I said, and I have already confirmed that it does happen on Android.

I think this one is fixed. I'm a little unclear on the steps to reproduce. @Prototyperspective & @Danielyepezgarces this build will likely be in the app store soon, but if you want an early look I may be able to send you an APK of the prerelease build so that you can check it.

Looks good on 2.7.50524-r-2025-03-04
