T203151 introduced an affordance that enables people to edit an entire page on mobile using the visual editor (see below), as opposed to editing one section at a time.
To date, this affordance has only been available to people who have Advanced Mobile Contributions enabled.
This task involves the work of making this affordance more widely available, in two phases.
Requirements
- Visit any MediaWiki page using the mobile site
- Tap the kebab menu that appears in the toolbar beneath the page title
- Notice a button appear within said menu that reads Edit full page
- Tap Edit full page
- Notice the contents of the entire page you are viewing are presented in an editable state, in both visual and source editing modes
Deployment phases
Phase | Description | Deployment date | Status | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
Phase 2 | Enable the Edit full page affordance for all logged out users | TBD | Stalled | Pending deciding what this means |

Event Timeline
We forgot to announce this:
Logged-in editors using the mobile view can now edit a full page. The full-page editing is accessible from the "more" menu in the toolbar.
Re: phase 1. That's actually been deployed to all logged in users ever since it landed. In 2022 T308675 made the menu available to all logged in users, not just AMC users. The original patch adding edit-full-page landed around August 1st 2023, so that's the actual "phase 1" deployment date.
Phase 2 requires more thought, since we'd need to decide whether it means we're giving the entire menu to logged out users, or creating some other UX for this.
