To modify the TOC, tap Edit in the top-right corner of the table of contents, then do any of the following:
Change which paragraph styles are enabled: Tap the circle next to paragraph styles you want to include.
Change the indentation of entries: Tap the indent or outdent button to the right of a selected style. If a button is dimmed, you can’t move the entry in that direction.
To close the Select Styles controls when you’re finished making changes, tap Done.
To close the table of contents, tap anywhere in the document. If you’re at the top of the screen.
Tap Edit in the top-right corner of the table of contents view, then select the paragraph styles you want to include.
When you’re finished, tap the document to close the controls.

The TOC appears in the document at the insertion point and is outlined in blue to show it’s selected.
In a word-processing document with a table of contents inserted in the document, the paragraph styles you select in the table of contents view are automatically shown in the inserted TOC. If you don’t want to use the same styles for both, you can customize the styles used in the inserted TOC.
Tap the table of contents in the document to select it.
