I will be traveling to USA through Doha with my indian passport which will have 5 months validity while leaving India. I understand that it meets both Qatar and USA entry requirements but does Indian immigration have any rule on passport validity while leaving India? Looking for any personal experience traveling in same situation.

1Don't forget to consider your return journey. If you will stay abroad long enough that you will have less than 3 months of validity left when you are on your way back home, you may have difficulty with airlines and/or connections in third countries. (Even though there is no validity requirement for a citizen entering their home country.)josh3736– josh37362025-11-28 01:42:24 +00:00Commented 2 days ago

No, all you need is a passport that's valid when you're departing.
In general, it is not the responsibility of the country you are leaving from to ensure that you can enter the country/countries you are going to. (There are some exceptions, like India's own ECR program, but that's trying to prevent workers from being exploited, not denied entry.)

While that's true, OP might have issues with overzealous airline agents who insist on 6 month validity. OP has to stand ground and probably bring a printout of timatic to be safe.Anish Sheela– Anish Sheela2025-11-28 16:54:55 +00:00Commented 2 days ago
