Cameron named filmmaker of the year

“Being John Malkovich” and “The Matrix” received top editing honors Sunday at the American Cinema Editors’ 50th annual ACE Eddie Awards.

Comedian Byron Allen hosted the evening, along with presenters Arnold Schwarzenegger, Thora Birch, Sharon Lawrence, Bill Paxton, Billy Zane, Adam Arkin and “Swingers” duo Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn. Also on hand at the Beverly Hilton soiree was singer Aimee Mann, who performed her Oscar-nominated tune.

James Cameron was presented the Golden Eddie filmmaker of the year award. Honorary career achievement awards went to Dann Cahn, A.C.E., and Marge Fowler, A.C.E.
