Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin’s parents have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler

The parents of actor Anton Yelchin, who was Reuters. But a spokesperson for FCA says the car company has yet to be served with any lawsuit.

Yelchin, who was 27-years-old and can be seen in the recently released Star Trek Beyond, was killed June 19th when his Jeep accidentally rolled backward down the driveway of his San Fernando Valley home and crushed him against a brick pillar.

Following his death, accelerated its recall of 1.1 million vehicles, which includes Yelchin’s 2013 Jeep.

The recall was first announced in April, after 41 injuries were reported related to rollaways caused by an unusual shift knob. The lever, which returns to the center position after each shift, can inadvertently be placed in neutral when drivers believe they’ve placed it in park.

Yelchin’s parents, Viktor and Irina Yelchin, filed the suit against FCA as well as retail chain AutoNation and ZF North America, which manufactured the gear shifter, Variety.

In a statement, FCA says it “extends its sympathies to the Yelchin family for their tragic loss,” but notes that it has yet to be served with the lawsuit and therefore can’t comment. Still, the company “urges customers to follow the instructions in their owners manuals and the information cards sent with their recall notices. These instructions include advising customers to set the parking brakes in their vehicles before exiting.”
