The Force Awakens troopers have really grown on me (That’s actually my next project!), but I’m definitely attracted to the ones that are a bit more functional-looking. The one on the right is who I’m aiming to replicate next:

The old EU explanation was that it would disperse the energy from a shot. It wouldn’t stop it, but it would turn a fatal blast into something that was survivable.

I totally agree with this, actually. The Prequels were interesting in a lot of ways – they just sort of fell down on the story department.
