Ethics Disclosure:
I've been embedded in Shack Tactical, an Arma gaming community, since April of 2014. The result of that embed was my feature, linked below. http://www.polygon.com/2014/10/8/6881629/inside-shack-tactical-shacktac-military-simulation-arma After the feature was published, the community offered to allow me to remain a member. As a result, I'll refrain from writing about Shack Tactical in the future.Yeah, I’m going to go with this actually fun way to make money. That’s the better use of my time, I feel.
I really think it adds something, for sure. The cinematography, such as it is, has a way of leading the viewer through the scene. I found myself looking around the environment as if directed by an invisible hand, at times, and in ways that synched up with the experience very effectively. But we’ll find out, since it’s also being made into a theatrical version sans VR.
Not sure that it’s unclear, but Ubisoft merely showed us a few presentations over a very long day in Paris. They don’t ask, or even pretend to tell, Polygon what to write about. We make those decisions on our side of the internet, as we did here.
I would encourage you to read that Wired story linked in the article.
