Here’s how to watch Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration today

Donald Trump becomes the 45th president of the United States of America today.

Amazing.

At least 800,000 people are expected to attend the inauguration festivities and ceremonies in Washington, D.C., which start at 9:30 am ET. They peak at noon, when Trump will take the oath of office and deliver his first address to the American people. (Update: If you want to see the oath you should likely tune in by 11:45 am). There’s a parade after that.

All of the major TV networks will cover the event, but it will also be easy to stream the proceedings online, for free: Facebook, Twitter and YouTube will all offer varying forms of live coverage, and some digital publishers are offering live coverage on their own sites.

Here’s a partial list of options:

Twitter will stream PBS’s broadcast coverage to users all over the world. You don’t need to log in to Twitter to watch it.

YouTube will offer live coverage from multiple outlets, including C-SPAN, USA Today. Not all of those publishers may make their streams available outside of the U.S., so you’ll need to check Friday morning to confirm.

Facebook may have some TV feeds of the event, but the company is playing up the fact that it will have other live coverage of the inauguration from the likes of the Washington Post, Refinery29 and the New York Times.

You can also check individual TV networks’ apps and sites for free streams.

CNN, for instance, will carry its TV stream on its homepages and apps, for free, starting at 6 am. You won’t need to be a cable TV subscriber to watch the coverage, but you will have to be in the U.S.

Well, you probably haven’t clicked on this post. And you also don’t need us to tell you that you could just shut your screens off and go for a long walk.

But if you do want to watch something else, there’s something called a Love-a-Thon scheduled for 12:30 Eastern — right after Trump takes the oath — that will run for three hours on Facebook. It’s supposed to raise money for the likes of Planned Parenthood and the ACLU.
