Sony is holding a flash sale on the PlayStation Store this weekend, with more than 150 games for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita on sale for less than $5. The sale also includes nearly 80 movies to buy or rent at deep discounts.
There are some good deals on games you may have missed out on, like the Definitive Editions of Tomb Raider and Sleeping Dogs. And while it may not have been received well critically, $4.99 for The Order: 1886 certainly makes that very brief game a little easier to justify.
Here are some of the highlights from the sale. Note that some of the PS3 titles are cross-buy compatible with PlayStation Vita.

Mass Effect 2 is currently free to download for all members of Electronic Arts’ Origin distribution platform. Windows PC copies of the critically acclaimed game’s Standard Edition are “on the house” for a limited time, requiring only an Origin account to grab one.
This is the second time Electronic Arts has given Mass Effect 2 away for free in recent weeks. On Dec. 20, the publisher offered the game for a short period of time, although it didn’t appear to be a part of the Origin on the House promotion.
Mass Effect 2 typically costs $19.99 for the Standard Edition, while the Deluxe Edition, which includes a soundtrack, digital comic, art book and bonus weapons, costs $29.99.

Valve has revealed the top 100 sellers on Steam for 2016, and nearly all of them are on sale at deep discounts from their original MSRP.
Valve Corp. did not disclose the total revenue figures for any game, but did break the bestsellers into four tiers. The top 12, which are displayed in random order, are Civilization 6, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dark Souls 3, Dota 2 (which is free-to-play, but, among other things, sold $20 million worth of content for The International 2016), Fallout 4, Grand Theft Auto 5, No Man's Sky (intriguingly), Rocket League, Tom Clancy’s The Division, Total War: Warhammer, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and XCOM 2.

Marvel comics, TV series, new movies and streaming service subscriptions are all on sale today as part of Amazon’s Digital Day.
Amazon confirmed yesterday that it would be discounting “thousands” of items, including games and other digital items, as part of the year-end sale. Amazon just launched its year-end Digital Day sale, taking as much as 50 percent off the cost of some of 2016’s biggest games, movies and TV shows as one last hurrah for this very long year. True to the name of the promotion, all deals are digital-only, with downloadable copies of games like Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1 and FIFA 17 going for cheap today only.

Microsoft continues its sale on Xbox One and Xbox 360 games leading into the new year with a fresh batch of deals on games both new and old. The latest deals in the Xbox “Countdown” sale include savings on recent releases like Watch Dogs 2, Dead Rising 4 and Steep, as well as a long list of backward compatible Xbox 360 games.

Post-holiday deals are in full effect in this, the last week of the year, including a great one for Eidos Montreal’s Deus Ex: Mankind Divided — it’s available for just $14.99.
That deal represents a 75 percent discount off the regular price of $59.99. The offer is available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Mankind Divided at Best Buy. At Amazon, only the PS4 version is discounted all the way to $14.99; the retailer is charging $19 on Xbox One, which is still a good deal at 68 percent off. Microsoft today kicked-off its “Countdown to New Year Sale” with big price drops on a slew of titles including Battlefield 1, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Final Fantasy 15, Titanfall 2, Dishonored 2 and on and on and on.
The week-long sale, which includes price drops ranging from 10 percent to 75 percent off on more than 70 Xbox One games and about 50 Xbox 360 games from the Xbox Games Store, ends Dec. 28. Then on Dec. 29, a new slew of games will get their own price drops. Those titles haven’t yet been announced by Microsoft.
While the sales are good for everyone, people with a Gold Xbox Live membership get an extra bump on the discounts. And every dollar spent before Dec. 31 will count toward increasing your MyVIP Star Rank for next year, according to Microsoft.

BioWare’s 2010 sci-fi role-playing game, Mass Effect 2, is currently free to download for Windows PC through Origin. The only requirement is an Origin account.
Mass Effect 2 doesn’t appear to officially be part of publisher Electronic Arts’ Origin on the House program, which gives away free games; EA is currently giving away Dungeon Keeper as part of that ongoing promotion. However, developer BioWare said on Monday that it had five days worth of freebies planned for its fans.
